
Cheddar and ham stuffed waffles
For a savory touch full of indulgence, cheddar and ham stuffed waffles are ideal! With their light and crispy batter enclosing a melting heart of cheddar cheese and ham, they perfectly combine creaminess and saltiness. Ingredients
- 500 g of flour
- 4 eggs
- 75 cl of liquid (1/3 water, 1/3 beer, and 1/3 milk)
- 125 g of melted butter
- 1 packet of baking powder
- 1 pinch of salt
- Filling: grated cheese and ham
Preparation
1. Melt the butter and let it cool slightly.
2. Beat the 4 egg whites until stiff peaks form.
3. Pour the flour into a bowl. Add the baking powder and mix. Then add the salt and egg yolks. Beat with a whisk.
4. Add the milk, beer and water as well as the melted butter.
5. Continue beating until the batter is well combined.
6. Gently fold in the beaten egg whites using a rubber spatula.
7. Let rest for 30 minutes.
8. Pour a thin layer of batter into the plate up to the indicated level.
9. Savory version: garnish with grated cheddar (or Gruyère or Emmental) cheese, then ham
10. Pour a layer of batter to cover the filling.
11. And quickly flip the appliance for perfectly formed squares! Let it cook for 7 minutes once the waffle maker is closed in crispy mode and at level 3 dark.
